Rockfish Restaurant in Houston, Texas: A Very Short Overview

The restaurant first came to be more than a decade ago in 1998 by a couple, Randy and Michele Dewitt, in Plano, Texas and the theme of the fly fish in a very relaxed atmosphere and family friendly became an immediate hit with the customers that they expanded all the way down to Houston. The venue is located in the Westchase district at 11805 Westheimer Road in a shopping center at the corner with Kirkwood and close to the Royal Oaks Country Club, and they also offer a gluten free menu for those who prefer it or need it.

For their appetizers try the Mexican shrimp martini which comes with avocado and pico de gallo for $7.99, or the jalapeno hush puppies which are served with a remoulade sauce for $1.99, or go with a cup of their soups like the New England clam chowder, or the for Louisiana gumbo for $3.50, or even the Ahi tuna nachos which come seared and blackened on either cucumber slices or wonton chips, wasabi aioli and a mango ginger relish for $7.99

For their entrées go with the Santa Fe fish tacos which have fried Alaskan Pollock, cheese, pico de gallo and cabbage for $8.99, or the crab stuffed Alaskan flounder which comes with a Pontchartrain sauce with rice for $12.99, or the Cajun pasta which are penne pasta with shrimp, chicken, smoked Andouille sausage, onions, red bell peppers in a Cajun cream sauce for $9.99. Or choose from the fish market section where you can choose your sauce between lemon butter, mushroom ginger cream, maple glaze or Ponchtrain which shrimp and crawfish and your own fish like the Ahi tuna, catfish (grilled, blackened or fried), rainbow trout, tilapia, mahi-mahi, jumbo shrimp even scallops and the prices range from $8.99 to 14.99.

The venue is very laid back and friendly and sometimes you will get the chef to come around and talk with customers for an added bonus, and the service is fast and they come to your table just enough times, not too much or not enough therefore they get an A-. Their parking is quite big, so there is never a big problem finding a spot, an A here as well and as far as the food goes it is extremely tasty and they get a solid B+, while the prices are very affordable for a seafood place and they get an A.
