Thai Choice is one of the best Thai restaurants in West Houston and all the way to the downtown area of the city. The venue is very small and intimate, in fact it has about eight to ten tables at most, it is great for the evening dinners more so than for lunch especially due to the dim lighting. If you want the place to be even more intimate maybe a romantic dinner than come early. The restaurant is located at 11161B Westheimer Road in the Westchase District and the hours of operations are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The place is family owned and the service is always excellent, the wait staff has a smile on at all times and they are definitely not those forced smiles that you see, therefore the service gets an A+.
For their appetizers go with the soft spring rolls which is a mix of fresh vegetables, chicken and soft noodles wrapped in a soft rice with sweet and sour sauce and a peanut sauce for $2.95, or the Thai pork dumplings for $6.95, or for soups order a small bowl of tom ka gai which is a coconut milk one with lemon grass, Thai herbs and chicken for $3.95.
While for their house specials go with the clay pot chef’s special which comes with assorted vegetables, soft tofu, and transparent noodles with Thai herbs with brown sauce in a clay pot for $14.95, or the tiger cried which has tender char boiled beef with a special sauce for $12.95, or even the pad seafood which comes in a seasoned curry powder, chili and basil leaf for $14.95. If you are a rice fan go with the apple fried rice which comes stir fried with sliced pineapple and mixed vegetables and topped with an egg for $9.95, or the pad ga prow which comes with sautéed beef, chicken and pork with crushed garlic, bell peppers, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, bamboo shoot and basil for $7.
The food is delicious and it tastes authentic and for the portions and flavor that you receive and the prices of the place, both the food and the prices get an A. The only down fault is the location, and not Westchase, but the spot that they are at inside the shopping center, as they are small and not that visible.
