Raia’s Italian Café and Market is a low key family owned restaurant located in the fast paced and popular Washington Corridor and it made a good review on Texas Monthly; the venue is a bring your own beer place and if you go for wine the cork charge is $5, however the atmosphere is very homey and a little cozy all at once.

The restaurant is located at 4500 Washington suite 200 and their hours of operations are from Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9: p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

They have a good size choices of food and for appetizers you can go with the meatball and eggs, which is an interesting mix but good and it is hard boil eggs and two marinara sauce meatballs for $8 (this one can be a meal by itself), or the fried calamari for $8 or even the stuffed artichokes for $10.

While for their entrée you can go with the chop Marsala which is pork chops topped with mushrooms and onions served with a side of pasta for $21, or the osso buco which is veal shank served with spaghetti with garlic and olive oil for $22, or the peppers rios which come roasted and stuffed with cheese, shrimp, crab meat, sautéed onions and topped with a spicy lemon sauce for $17. Or choose from one of their pastas such as the paisano which is linguine pasta with chicken, mushrooms, onions and prosciutto for $14, or the straw and hay which are fresh egg and spinach fettuccine with peas, mushrooms in a prosciutto cream sauce for $12, or the Corleone which is angel hair pasta with eggplant, black olives, capers and ricotta in a red sauce for $10 or even the New Orleans which comes with shrimp and crawfish in a spicy cream sauce and topped with lump crab meat for $16.

And to finish up try one of their desserts such as the tiramisu, Italian cream, carrot cake or the white and dark chocolate cake for $6.50.

The prices are average for the food and drinks and they get a solid B, while the food itself gets a B+ as it is tasteful and it also gets points for mixing up cuisines and being creative and the service also gets a B and it is quite efficient.
