Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened Today in History?

1782 – The U.S. Congress adopts the Great Seal of the United States

1840 – Samuel Morse receives the patent for the telegraph

1863 – American Civil War: West Virginia is admitted as the 35th U.S. state

1944 – World War II: The Battle of the Philippine Sea concludes with a decisive U.S. naval victory. The lopsided naval air battle is also known as the “Great Marianas Turkey Shoot”.

1894-1966 – Georges Lemaître, Belgian catholic priest and astronomer, originator of the Big Bang theory

1897-1972 – Howard Johnson, American businessman, originator of restaurant chain

1938-1997 – Lawrence Payton, American singer (The Four Tops)

1942-1998 – Conrad Schumann, East German border guard who was one of the most famous defectors from East Germany

1923-2005 – Jack Kilby was a Nobel Prize laureate in physics in 2000 for his invention of the integrated circuit in 1958 while working at Texas Instruments (TI). He is also the inventor of the handheld calculator and thermal printer
