The latter represents a far more serious health issue, and for this reason it’s critical to undergo some testing once you start to notice symptoms. Boric acid suppositories have been known to work quite well and have been used as a vaginal infection treatment for awhile, even for infections caused by an overgrowth of yeast. Drugstores and pharmacies carry both Canesten and Monistat, as they are very popular products. They serve as a quick and effective treatment.

While getting treatment is important, doing what you can to prevent it from occurring in the first place is equally as important. Eating a healthy diet is a good place to start, as doing so will decrease your risk for yeast infections. Not to mention the fact that it will improve your overall health and give you more energy. Also, bathe regularly and get 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Wearing clothing that allows the vagina to breathe is encouraged, such as cotton underwear and pants, to prevent bacteria from accumulating.
