What is depression to begin with, what has happened to me? A definition from www.dictionary.com is “a mood disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty with thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal thoughts or an attempt to commit suicide.
Depression is basically a loss of hope for various reasons according to your individual situation. It may occur from health problems, loss of job, maybe a confrontation with a relative or a friend, etc.
One brief solution is to rest, and let the reasons why you are depressed flow through your mind, be honest. Why am I discouraged. If you find that you need help doing this pray to God for help; James says “My brethren count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience…if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:2-3, 5).
Unfortunately life has become too easy in America and we have forgotten upon what standards we were originally founded. The back of our Dollar bill says IN GOD WE TRUST, but unfortunately we have placed our faith in that dollar bill, money alone; sadly foreign countries are outsmarting us in producing that money i.e. CHINA.! We are becoming indebted to them.; although money is important it does not have the answer to ALL of life’s solutions.
Pray to God for wisdom and he will give you the solutions that need to taken and the ability and wisdom to succeed or He will give you the strength to bear that which cannot be changed.. Once you have again stabilized your situation to the best of your ability, try doing something for someone else even if it is small. Take a brief walk outside and enjoy the blessings that you do have.
Personally because I suffered epileptic seizures I lost my driver’s license and then lost my car, and had to change jobs plus location, initially I was depressed. Actually though I am happier now. I moved into the city of Pittsburgh and can now walk to work, walk to the grocery store, without paying for insurance and car repairs; I thank God for successful brain surgery, and the job which I now have though lower pay is actually much lighter physically.
Don’t forget to thank God for all of the basic things which you do have also, two feet to walk, two eyes to see, two ears to hear, a place to live, and many other things that are not mentioned here.
Unfortunately life is always full of challenges and problems, but the Lord promises that He will give you the strength to bear through the problems and challenges that life has to offer ( Philippians 4:13). May God give you the strength to overcome your challenges whatever they may be.
