The Lalit Ashok Observes “world No Tobacco Day” Creates Awareness Among Its Staff on The Ill-Effects of Tobacco

Bangalore, 31st May 2011:  Soon tobacco products will carry harsher pictorial warnings for smoking and smokeless forms of tobacco. As a responsible corporate, The Lalit Ashok observed “World No Tobacco Day” and lent its support, to create awareness on the ill effects of smoking and smokeless tobacco, among its hotel staff.

Addressing the hotel staff, Dr Manohar V, Consultant Physician – Preventive Medicine, Columbia Asia Hospital, said: “On the World No Tobacco Day, I’m glad to be a part of The Lalit Ashok’s, awareness campaign, for the well being of its staff. To create awareness nationally, we need to start working locally. I thank The Lalit Ashok, for giving me this opportunity, to educate the staff on the various risks involved in the consumption of tobacco. The most important thing you can do to protect your current and future health is quit smoking and refrain from using any tobacco products.

Though, aware of the repercussions, the staff pledged to make an earnest effort to give up smoking. Mr Ramiah G Daniels, GM, The Lalit Ashok, stated: “When it comes to wellness, there is nothing better than being healthy your entire life. Healthy people make a healthy nation. Let’s strive to remain healthy for a healthier nation. Smokers must realize that they are not only endangering their own lives, but the lives of their loved ones who inhale the second-hand smoke.

Spreading awareness on the harmful consequences of tobacco, the hotel staff requested guests to avoid smoking in the hotel premises including the smoking zone.
