The winter has gone. The spring is just slithering from us. The crispy blue sky is smiling at us, holding the shining sun in his daily visit. Nature exposes her God-given beauty through the snow-clad mountains, luscious plains, light and thick green shades of canopy-like trees, land strewed with multi-hued flowers, and the breeze whispering the message of love. The chirping birds and murmuring animals tell us that God is waiting to hear from us.
It is a real blessing to see and enjoy green, yellow, white, red, brown and all hues of God’s wonder displayed in nature. Martin Luther King once said, “God writes His Gospel not in the scriptures alone, but on trees and flowers, and clouds and stars.”
Nature with its infinite variety is God’s special gift to humanity. Without nature, we cannot live, move and have our being on this earth. Nature with her cycle of birth and death, her seasons, her flowers and fruits sustains us. At the same time nature is a silent incomplete book of God.
God created everything through His word but created us in His own image. He continues to show His love through the nature given us. He has created us through a loving affectionate mother. He shows His love throgh the magnificent stars, the intricate design of nature, and so many beautiful things on this planet.
God is inviting us to enjoy the gift He has given us which He “found was very good.” Walk outside in a park or backyard. Follow the trail around a lake or along a river. Enjoy with the author of Ecclesiastes, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Reflect on the love of God.
God invites each and every one of us to taste His great love saying, “My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” (Song of Solomon 2: 10-12)
The beautiful summer invites us to sing the praises of the Lord. He loves righteousness and justice. He protects us with His motherly embrace. The earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
Let us thank the Lord and enjoy this summer.
