Some people are occasional caffeine drinkers while some are addicted to more than 300 grams of intake per day. You may wonder that if caffeine is bad, then why is it incorporated in most of the drinks you drink? Well for a fact, caffeine is used as a stimulant, to keep you awake, to keep you going. Basically, caffeine increases your urine production but is also works as the same way as most prohibited drugs do.
So what are the side effects of too much caffeine intake?
As we have mentioned, caffeine works as a stimulant, keeping you awake. The nerves in your body that are supposedly to be at rest are now at work, stressing too much effort to keep you on the go. Is this a bad thing? Certainly! A stress out person can stay awake but he or she cannot function well.
Caffeine works like other stimulant drugs such as amphetamine, heroin and cocaine. Although it has milder effects, it still passes through the same nerve that gives reaction to the brain. Take note, that great or mild, the effects are still hazardous to your health.
A person who takes 300 grams or more can be noted as a caffeine addict. This can alter the mood causing depression and anxiety. Although a person is still awake up to the wee hours of the morning, it does not guarantee that he or she is in the mood for a talk and can get irritated in an instant.
Hypertension is another to look out for. A person addicted to caffeine can get hypertension attacks before even noticing it.
It can also cause nervousness. Excessive caffeine intake can get a person easily nervous even though there isn’t any need to be nervous about. You can also get irritated easily by being caffeine addictive. Of course, you wouldn’t want this to happen just to make you awake and do your task but on the other hand compromise your well-being and functionality as an individual.
Heart palpitations are also observed with people who are addicted to caffeine. This is due to caffeine being a stimulant that would make you hyper up. Irregular heartbeat will make you susceptible to heart ailments which is very unlikely for any person to have.
Anxiety is also a side effect from too much caffeine intake. This will make you anxious to getting something done yet end up irritated when it will not be completed. An anxious person is difficult to deal with and uneasy to get along.
Insomnia is another side effect from too much caffeine intake which is unhealthy since every person is required at least 6 hours of sleep to regenerate tired muscles and over used nerves. We need to sleep. That is evident. Insomnia in effect is unhealthy. Further, caffeine increases acid production which also makes you prone to getting peptic ulcer.
