It has been revealed today that with literally just days to go before the auditions were due to start that Dannii Minogue will no longer be a judge on The X Factor.
Whilst Dannii claims that this was her decision, X Factor officials claim that the decision was entirely theirs. Dannii states that the reason that she has decided to no longer be involved in the show follows the decision to change the audition schedule to fit in with new judge Gary Barlow’s diary. Gary Barlow is replacing Simon Cowell on the judging panel for the first time this year. Dannii claims that there is a conflict of dates for judging on The X Factor and her commitments as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent in June and July of this year. Whilst it was suggested that she could do both by flying backwards and forwards in between, Dannii felt that this would be near impossible, especially as she is a new mum and has had some recent health problem following the removal of her appendix.
However, The X Factor officials have said that the decision to replace Dannii with 22 year old N-Dubz star, Tulisa, was entirely their decision, but that Dannii was putting a brave face on things.
This is a shock decision, particularly as Danni was the winning judge on last years show and had a great following from the public. In addition to this, Danni’s replacement means that Louis Walsh will be the only original panel member on the show this year with the other three spots going to new judges. With Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell focusing their careers on the American version of the show and Danni being ousted, the new line up will include Tulisa, Gary and Louis. However, there is still one spot to be confirmed with numerous stars being named as potential judges.
In another shock move, Simon Cowell has delayed the start of the auditions by over three weeks. This is in response to the huge shake up of the show, including the changes to the judging panel. He wishes to oversee the start of the auditions himself and has amended the audition schedule to suit his diary.
