Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened on this Day in History?

1889 – The children’s charity National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is launched in London

1913 – New York Governor William Sulzer approves the charter for the Rockefeller Foundation, which begins operations with a $100 million donation from John D. Rockefeller

1948 – Israel is declared to be an independent state and a provisional government is established. Immediately after the declaration, Israel is attacked by the neighboring Arab states, triggering the Arab-Israeli War

1955 – Cold War: Eight communist bloc countries, including the Soviet Union, sign a mutual defense treaty called the Warsaw Pact

1988 – Carrollton bus collision: a drunk driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 71 near Carrollton, Kentucky, United States hits a converted school bus carrying a church youth group. The crash and ensuing fire kill 27

He was a pioneer in the development of armored warfare, and was the leading proponent of tanks and mechanization in the Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces). Germany’s panzer (armored) forces were raised and organized under his direction as Chief of Mobile Forces. During the war, he was a highly successful commander of panzer forces in several campaigns

1882-1968 – Husband E. Kimmel was a four-star admiral in the United States Navy. He served as Commander-in-chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Because of the attack, he was removed from office and was reduced to his permanent two-star rank of rear admiral

1884-1970 – Billie Burke was an American actress. She is primarily known to modern audiences as Glinda the Good Witch of the North in the musical film The Wizard of Oz.

1918-1987 – Rita Hayworth, American actress and one of the greatest stars of all time

1949-1992 – Lyle Alzado, American football player whose death was caused by steroid use

1908-1993 – William Randolph Hearst Jr., American newspaper magnate

1915-1998 – Frank Sinatra, American singer and actor

1940-2003 – Dave DeBusschere, NBA player for the Detroit Pistons and the New York Knicks and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame

1919-2003 – Robert Stack, American actor
