Transferring Data Files From Corrupted User Profile to The New User Profile in Windows XP

You need to create a new profile in order to prevent your computer from creating new profile every time it loads.

Note: this method did not includes data of e-mails, such as Microsoft outlook e-mails and contacts, outlook express messages and contacts, and other address books.
 

There are three major steps on how to fix this problem;
1. You need to create a new user profile with administrator restrictions; this will 
be your user2.

2. Create another user profile also as administrator; this will be your user3.
This will be a temporary user profile; it will be deleted soon as you want.
This profile will be use to copy all the data from user1 (corrupted user profile)
to new user2.
Why it is necessary to create user3? You cannot copy the data of the user that you log-in,
so you need to create temporary user.

3. Copy all the data or files from User1 to user2.

Step 1 : Create a New User with administrator privilege – this will be Your User2
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click User Accounts.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced.
4. In the left pane, click the Users folder.
5. On the Action menu, click New User.
6. Enter the appropriate user information, and then click Create.
 

Step 2 : Create a New User with administrator  privilege- this will be Your User3
this will be a temporary user.
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click User Accounts.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced.
4. In the left pane, click the Users folder.
5. On the Action menu, click New User.
6. Enter the appropriate user information, and then click Create.

Step 3: copy all the files and data’s from old User Profile (User1) to New User Profile (User2)
1. log-on as User 3, temporary User data.
2. In Windows Explorer, click Tools, click Folder Options, click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, 
click to clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click OK.
3. Locate the C:\Documents and Settings\Old_Username folder (user1), where C is the drive on which Windows XP 
is installed, and Old_Username is the name of the profile you want to copy user data from.
4. Press and hold down the CTRL key while you click each file and subfolder in this folder, except the following files: 
 – Ntuser.dat
 – Ntuser.dat.log
 – Ntuser.ini
5. On the Edit menu, click Copy. ( Ctrl+C)
6. Locate the C:\Documents and Settings\New_Username folder (User2), where C is the drive on which Windows XP is installed, and New_Username is the name of the user profile that you created in the “Create a New User Profile” section.
7. On the Edit menu, click Paste. (Ctrl=V)
8. Log off the computer, and then log on as the new user (User2)
 

You can Now delete the Temporary user profile user3.

Not: Do not delete the user1 first, please back up your e-mail or import the mail data before deleting the user1.
