Who Was That Navy Seal Dog Who Helped Take Down Osama Bin Laden?

It used to be, who is that doggy in the window? Today, we want to know who is that Navy Seal dog who took down Osama Bin Laden on Sunday in Pakistan? During the Navy Seal raid that ultimately took out Osama Bin Laden, a four legged hero was seen riding on the back of one of the 79 Navy Seals. It is not known who the Navy Seal dog is, but it is speculated he is a Newfoundland or a German Shepherd breed.

Military Working Dogs (WMD) have been used to help the military since World War I. Military Working Dogs are great for detection work and patrolling.  They’re also used to guard bases and as companions to our service men and women.

“Newfoundland’s have long been favored and used by the Navy and Coast Guard.  They are huge dogs, up to 150 pounds, who are wonderful swimmers with great strength and natural instincts to rescue.  They have webbed feet and water-repellant coats which make them buoyant.  Newfoundland’s are known as working dogs with strong water rescue and pulling skills.  They’ve even been trained to jump from helicopters to rescue people in water below.” (examiner.com)

There is not a ton of information on the Navy Seal Dog who helped take down Osama Bin Laden. President Obama has not released the pictures of the raid, online picture of the raid are suspect and everything about the raid is top secret. It is more likely the dog is a German Shepherd than a Newfoundland dog because German Shepherd dogs are intelligent and highly trained for specific missions like the raid that took out Osama Bin Laden.

Today we have another unnamed dog that is the rave of the internet, is a hero in our hearts and another part of the raid that took out the number one terrorist in the world, Osama Bin Laden.
