The Apple iPhone was released in 2006. Since then there have been a number of companies releasing new phones in order to compete against the iPhone. However the iPhone remains as the number one mobile phone. Sony Ericsson has released the XPERIA X10. This model is their most competitive version to date.  

The XPERIA X10 has increased its model number by 7. Sony wants to show that the XPERIA has moved forward greatly from its previous models.The X10 has the potential to compete against the best selling smart phones available in today’s market. The X10 has taken the best features from a range of mobile phones and rolled them into one. The iPhone meets its match so let’s compare it with the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.The iPhone and the XPERIA X10 both weigh 135 grams however the X10 is a little bit larger in size and measures 119 mm x 63 mm x 13 mm in comparison to the 115.1 mm x 62.1 mm x 12.3 mm iPhone. The XPERIA X10 runs using a 1 GHz Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon processor whereas the iPhone uses the 600 MHz CPU. When comparing the screens the XPERIA X10 features a 4 inch wide VGA capacitive touch screen which is coated to resist scratches. It has 64k color support which is capable of being upgraded to a multitouch plus has more colors available with an Android OS update. The iPhone has a smaller 3.5 inch half VGA capacitive multitouch touch screen with 16 million colors and has an oleophobic coating. Both models possess gravity accelerometers.The X10 and iPhone are both quad band GSMS/EDGE on 2G and tri band UMTS/HSDPA on 3G. There are no differences there, however in regards to the memory the phones vary greatly. The 16 GB and 32 GB iPhone does not have an expandable memory whereas the 8 GB XPERIA X10 can be expanded to 16 GB and comes complete with a 2 GB microSD memory card.Now let’s look at the similarities, both phones use Flash and JavaScript and provide YouTube support. They both use the same email client, Exchange ActiveSync and have MS Office attachment ability. Now on to the differences, the iPhone uses its own browser known as Safari Mobile whereas the X10 uses the WebKit web browser. The X10 camera features 8.1 megapixels with autofocus and touchfocus and LED phone/video light. It is capable of QVGA video recording at 30 fps with image stabilization, face recognition, geo tagging, smile detection and red eye reduction. The iPhone on the other hand has a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera. VGA video recording is at 30 fps, geo tagging and a range of other abilities which are provided through 3rd party applications.Both these smart phones have spoken navigation abilities that direct you step by step. Sony Ericsson X10 has assisted GPS with Wisepilot and Google Maps but in comparison the Apple iPhone features GPS, Compass and various other applications that can be added such at Tom Tom. The iPhone seems to have really met its match with the X10.
