Thyroid stimulating hormones are also known as thyrotropin, promote growth of the thyroid gland and stimulate the thyroid glands to produce more thyroid hormones, triiodothyronine and thyroxine. The pituitary gland is responsible for producing thyroid stimulating hormones. The pituitary gland automatically stops production of thyroid stimulating hormones once there is already an excessive amount of thyroid hormones in the body and instead reduces the production of thyroid hormones.

High Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Level
- A clear indication of hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid
- This means that one’s thyroid glands produce inadequate amounts if thyroid hormones.
- Low Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Level.
- This indicates hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid.
- This means that one’s thyroid glands produce more thyroid hormones than what the body needs.
- Normal Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Level
- This means a person’s thyroid glands are perfectly functioning well and just produces adequate amounts of thyroid hormones needed by the body for metabolism.
Elevated Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Level
The body only has enough thyroid hormones and the thyroid glands need more stimulation to produce more thyroid hormones.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Effects
Endocrine secretions also known as hormones are being transmitted by the blood are produced by the endocrine system to help control metabolism. The one that stimulates the thyroid glands to produce more thyroid hormones in the body are called thyroid stimulating hormones or TSH. Thyroid stimulating hormones are produced by the pituitary glands. Physicians find diagnosing a thyroid disorder a very challenging and demanding job. There are instances that an individual’s thyroid hormone level is normal or considered within range however the individual is suffering or experiencing symptoms of a certain thyroid disorder. - Increased thyroid stimulating hormone level on the bones may result into osteoporosis since it can affect the calcium levels in the body.
- Increased thyroid stimulating hormone levels on the heart may result into a congestive heart problem and other severe heart problems but may be treated with proper medication.

Increased thyroid stimulating levels may also be referred to as high thyroid stimulating hormone levels. This is basically an indication that an individual is suffering from hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid and one’s thyroid glands are unable to produce adequate amounts of thyroid hormones.
Elevated Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
Elevated thyroid hormone levels indicate that there is only enough thyroid hormones in the body. In this case, more stimulation is required to make the thyroid glands produce more thyroid hormones. This is usually caused by an inflamed thyroid, a simple thyroid failure or effect of medical treatments such as abnormal activity of the pituitary gland or thyroid removal.
