Fashion gives you the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of styles and designs. Moreover, there is a continual difference in what is deemed as fashionable. In other words, the only thing that is constant in the world of fashion is change. That said, one accent has continued to remain a fashionable style and a favourite amongst several designers. This timeless accent is called embroidery.

Embroidery is a form handicraft that is used to decorate and beautify any fabric and/or material by the making intricate designs using a needle and thread.  In most cases, the art of embroidery incorporates various materials like sequins, beads, metal strips and pearls. The signature style of embroidery is the simple technique of handmade or machine stitches in different styles like chain, running, cross or satin stitch. These basic fundamentals have remained the same over the years. However, with the passage of time, there have been a range of new-age additions to the world of embroidery. Today, embroidery is considered as a fashion statement.

Embroidery can be found on caftan tunics, swimsuits, t-shirts and even on elegant evening wear.

If you wish to make embroidery fashion a part of your wardrobe, you don’t need to spend alot of money. One of the nicest things about embroidery fashion is that you can create the look on any affordable dress. This is possible if you have a sewing machine at home. Remember, you do not need to be a professional to be able to embroider. Even if you are a beginner, thanks to the sewing machines of today, you will be able to embroider like a pro.

There are three techniques by which you can embroider garments with a sewing machine.

The simplest and most basic technique is referred to as appliqué. In this technique, you will apply one piece of fabric over the other. In other words, you can use lace, designs, already embroidered patches or lace to a garment by simply sewing around the borders.  Almost all sewing machines have the option of applying appliqué through a simple one-stitch.

The next technique is simple embellishment that you can achieve by using one of the stitches that are incorporated into almost all sewing machines. A sewing machine offers you stitches that range from simple designs like flowers to intricate designs that look like they are handmade.

However, if you wish to create the more elegant embellishments on your garment, you will need sewing machines that support hoop embroidery.
