For vegetarians and vegans there is a need for a healthy substitute for dairy milk. Those people that are lactose intolerant must also find a healthy dairy milk alternative. Listed below are some of the most popular dairy milk alternative.

Almond Milk:

As very good source of manganese, selenium and Vitamin E along with several other vitamins and minerals. Almond is an excellent substitute for dairy milk. Almonds are rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids which help in lowering LDL (bad cholesterol). Almonds delivers a good supply of B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6 and others that are co-factors for enzymes during cellular substrate metabolism. Unlike dairy milk it contains no cholesterol nor saturated fat. Unsweetened almond has been said to be tastier than dairy milk and more so when sweetened with vanilla or chocolate flavoring. Rice Milk:

Rice milk is another alternative to dairy milk. As the name suggests, rice milk is made of rice. It contains no cholesterol nor lactose, therefore is popular with vegetarians and vegans as wells lactose intolerant people. Rice milk is usually sweeter than dairy milk and is usually fortified with essential vitamins and minerals.

Soy Milk:

Soy milk is more comparable to dairy milk than either Almond milk or Rice milk. But does not contain the benefits of almond milk. It also contains calcium which cannot be digested by humans so it is usefully fortified with calcium carbonate as well as some other vitamins and minerals. Soy milk does contain less saturated fat than dairy milk and contains no cholesterol. Like Almond milk it can be produced right at home. Commercial soy milk can come in vanilla and chocolate flavor and has been used in many Western cafes and coffee shops as a milk substitute.

These are the three main or most popular dairy milk substitute. Soy milk being the most popular of the three and almond showing the largest amount of health benefits.These dairy milk substitutes can be made at home or bought in most large chain grocery stores.They are enjoyed by people that are lactose intolerant, vegetarians and vegans, as well as people just lokking for a healthier alternative to the troubling dairy products such milk.
