Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened on this Day in History?

1865 – Abraham Lincoln dies without regaining consciousness after being shot the previous evening by actor John Wilkes Booth

1900 – Philippine–American War: Filipino guerrillas launch a surprise attack on U.S. infantry and begin a four-day siege of Catubig, Philippines

1912 – The British passenger liner RMS Titanic hits an iceberg in the North Atlantic at 11:40pm. The ship sinks the following morning with the loss of 1,517 lives

1809-1865 – Abraham Lincoln dies without regaining consciousness after being shot the previous evening by actor John Wilkes Booth, Abraham Lincoln was the 16thPresident of the United States and was called Honest Abe

1983 – Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian Holocaust survivor who helped many Jews escape the Nazis during World War II. In 1970, ten Boom co-wrote her autobiography, The Hiding Place released in 1971 and which was made into a film of the same name two years later starring Jeannette Clift as Corrie.

1909-1983 – John Engstead, American photographer, In the 1940s, Engstead photographed many celebrities, including Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Maureen O’Hara and Shirley Temple. Unlike other photographers, he often shot his subjects at home or outdoors, and his portraits of a young Judy Garland in Carmel, California, Engstead continued to photograph movie stars and other celebrities through the 1950s (Marilyn Monroe) and 1960s.
