What is the Rapture?

The rapture is an event in the near future when Jesus Christ will come in the air, snatch up the church (believers in Christ), and then return to Heaven with the church. The church will be in Heaven while the tribulation period is happening on earth.

This is what is known as the pre-tribulation rapture. But I would not have you to beignorant, brethren, concerning them, which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others, which have no hope.

The rapture is a mysterious prophecy that foretells of an ecclesiast event that will take place prior to Christ setting up the millennium reign, in which all the saints will be gathered together for the celebration of the marriage supper of the lamb.

Pre-tribulation rapture is derived from the Latin which means “to carry off,” in great glory before the tribulation, and simultaneously while the church is been caught up, at the beginning of the prophecy of the seventieth week.

The true believers of Christ body who are alive at the time will be changed from mortal into immortal beings, and those that have died, will be raised from corruption to be made incorruption, together both parties will meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be

From earth to heaven to be with God,

Those that are left behind, they will face severe tribulation as the antichrist prepares to take matters into his own hands.

For if we believe that Jesus died and raised again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus wills God bring with him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16

for this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we, which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them, which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words. This passage in the bible tells us that we are going to be “caught up” in the clouds to meet the Lord. In the pre-trip rapture scenario, Jesus calls the entire Christians home at that time, but He does not return to earth (we meet Him in the clouds). Jesus returns to earth at the end of the tribulation to put a halt to Satan’s rule of the earth and establish His millennial kingdom

Jesus returning to earth only once and the rapture occurs as He is returning. Although the timing of the rapture was not given in this passage
1 Corinthians 15:50-54

now this I say, brethren that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit in corruption.

Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raisedincorruptible, andwe shall be changed.

For this corruptible must put on in corruption, and this mortal must put onimmortality.

So when this corruptible shall have put on in corruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, and then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. In this passage Paul is explaining “the mystery”, that is the rapture.

The Saints taken in the rapture are given incorruptible and immortal bodies. In further evidence that this is talking about the rapture, Paul twice points out the fact that we all will not die and those that are asleep will hear the trumpet sound, when the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, and the voice of the arch angel

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. 1thessalonians 4:16

The archangel is Michael, the chief of the angels. He is the leader of the angels. Michael is the commander of the Lord’s army of angels in heaven.

1. “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed”

Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
