A Face of The Recession

It was a normal day for me.  Well, no, that is not exactly true.  It was storming rain that morning, as I recall now.  It was one of those storms where the wind is whipping up so strong the rain is coming at you sideways.  On this particular morning, I was stuck in traffic on my way to get my morning coffee at McDonalds and a biscuit.  Yeah, I’m too lazy to make breakfast myself.  Being divorced does have its drawbacks.  But, I can’t complain.  Life has not been exactly kind to me.  But, I have a car to drive, money in my bank account and a roof over my head.  That probably puts me in a fortunate class.  There have been many people in this God-awful recession who lost everything, including that roof over their head.  This story is about one such individual on this morning I spoke of earlier.  It was about one of those unfortunate souls who have been beaten down by the unfairness of life.  True, no one ever said life was going to be fair.  But, some folks would settle for just a brief respite from the hell they face each and every day.  That was what I was thinking when I stopped for Thomas that day.  I hope Thomas is reading this little story.  I hope he recognizes himself.  I received something just as nice as he did that day; heartfelt thank you.  A Face of the Recession
