Cruises are usually recognized for the great quality time they allow couples to have together – cruises have spas, (hopefully) great unlimited food and drinks, great activities and exciting places to visit. But what about great family vacations? Are cruises good for those? Cruises can be great educational fun for children. Most cruise ships offer children’s entertainment of one kind or another all the time. The great thing about taking your children on a modern luxury cruise ship is, that you know that they will always be safe. You can let them wander anywhere they want, make all the friends they are interested in, and explore the sight of the water as it passes by, and you know that there are always going to be okay.
One thing that makes a cruise a wonderful idea for great family vacations is that most cruises will charge children a discounted half price when they share a cabin with their parents (although sharing a cabin can’t be much fun for the parents). About one in ten customers on cruises bring their families along, children and all. If you decide to take your children along, you’ll find that they will have lots of friends to make. When you look for a cruise to help make your great family vacations on, consider being allowed the convenience of supervised activities both while sailing and while in port. Make sure that there is supervised baby sitting available both in the staterooms and in the playrooms.
As you might well expect, there are some great family vacations to be had on Disney Cruise Lines. Your kids will be beside themselves with joy finding Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse in the dining room each morning to play with them over breakfast. Disney ships have the best on-board hangout spots for teens and best playrooms for little kids, in the business. They will offer you free supervised activities for your little ones all the way to midnight, and they even have special wading pools for toddlers.
As wonderful as Disney is for great family vacations, there are other cruise lines that compete for your attention in this market as well. Celebrity Cruises on their biggest ships, have truly spectacular playroom complexes in very safe fenced-in areas. You have your jungle gym, your wading pool, and everything else. They even have special areas for teens, and they have supervised activities and babysitting for little children.
On Cunard Lines, you get a climbing gym, a spray fountain, a ball pit and nannies to take care of your kids. People don’t usually think of cruises when they think of taking their family out on vacation. All that is changing now though, and the cruise lines are working hard for your family’s custom.
