Today is George Washington’s Birthday

George Washington was born on February 22, 1732 and he died in 1799. George Washington wasthe man who led the American victory over the British in the American Revolutionary war. George Washington was the first President of the United States of America and is known as the “Father of His Country.”

Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

1942- World War II: President Franklin D. Roosevelt orders General Douglas MacArthur out of the Philippines as American defenses collapses.

1882-1965-Felix Frankfurter was Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court who was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt dies on George Washington’s Birthday

1904-1968 –Peter Arno was an American cartoonist, his cartoons were published in The New Yorker from 1925-1968

1912-1973 –Winthrop Rockefeller was the 37th US governor of Arkansas and the first to die on George Washington’s Birthday and he was a third generation member of the Rockefeller family

1930-1974- Samuel Byck was an American who attempted assassin of Richard Nixon; he planned on driving a plane through the White House

1943-1976 –Florence Ballard was an American singer and founder of the Supremes; she dies of a heart attack at 32 on George Washington’s Birthday

1978 –Phyllis McGinley was a US poetess and writer of Children’s Books who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1961 for poetry

1971-1984–David Vetter was a boy who spent most of his life in a plastic bubble, dies at 12 on George Washington’s Birthday

1928-1987-Andy Warhol was an American painter, print maker, film maker andpop artist, dies of a heart attack at 58

1934-1995-Ed Flanders was an American actor who played Dr. Westphall on TV show St Elsewhere who commits suicide on George Washington’s Birthday at the age of 60

1998 –Sandy Hume was an American journalist for the Hill newspaper in Washington, DC and son of Brit Hume, he commits suicide at 28

1954-2007-Dennis Johnson was an NBA guard who played for the Phoenix Sun, Boston Celtics and Seattle Supersonics who won three NBA Championships; he died from a sudden heart attack

1898-2007 –Howard Verne Ramsey was the oldest U.S. veteran of WWI, a hero who dies on George Washington’s Birthday
