Email spamming is one of the worldliest renowned schemes on the internet. People get spammed so much to the point where they have to get anti-spamming software or filter their mail settings to junk mail or blocking a specific email. What is worse is people are getting emails from newsletters that somehow got your email address from somewhere and are now emailing you with all of this junk about a “product or service. Even when you join a newsletter and decide to stop following their subscriptions, somehow they still find a reason to keep on emailing you.
If you are an email marketer, there are some updates and other news that you need to understand in order to make sure that you are not performing some of the same mistakes that some other marketers make when trying to promote to their list of customers or using an email marketing service.
The obvious thing that you need to understand, when talking about spam prevention is making sure that you have an opt-in list of people looking for what you have to offer. When I say offer I mean an offering of information not product. The purpose of people joining a newsletter is simply to receive information, not a product. This is the reality of the situation.
The other form of prevention that you need to consider is how often you are emailing your opt-in list of prospects. If you are emailing every hour with a bunch of affiliate sites without giving them any substance or at least prepping them for the site, then you will always get a negative response. People will begin to put you on their spamming list or unsubscribe altogether.
The best thing for you to do as a marketer is to keep yourself updated with Google updates, yahoo updates, and Bing updates on spamming laws, prevention, as well as researching different techniques on the email marketing industry as well as learning how to effectively communicate with your list of subscribers.
