In this article we will explain how to make a sweet rolls recipe. In Spanish, these are called molletes.
What you will need:
1/2 cup of warm water
2/3 cup of sugar for sweetness
1 and 1/2 tablespoons of anise seed
2 packets of active dry yeast
1 egg yolk
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup of melted butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon of cinammon (optional)
Pour both of the yeast packets into a large bowl. Stir with a fork to dissolve all of the yeast. Put in the salt, anise seeds, butter, eggs, sugar and two of the cups of flour. Optionally you can add the tablespoon of cinammon. Beat the mixture until it is smooth. Add flour as needed to produce a soft dough.
Lightly flour a surface and place the dough on it. Turn the dough and knead it until it is elastic. This should take from ten to fifteen minutes.
Grease a bowl and add the dough to it. Turn it around the bowl and be careful to grease all of it. Cover the bowl with a towel. Let the rise for an hour to an hour and a half.
After the dough has risen, punch it down. Place it back on the floured surface and add more flour if necessary and turn it, forming into a square. Cut into quarters. Cut the quarters into four triangles.
Place all of the triangles onto a greased pan. Cover them with a towel. Put them in a warm place until they double in size. This will take about an hour.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Take the egg yolk and beat it for thirty seconds. Get a brush and apply the egg yolk to the top of all of the triangles. Place in the center of the oven and bake for 10 minutes until golden brown. They will be shiny from the egg yolk. Serve warm, which is yummiest, or place in the cabinet and they will be good for about a week.
