It is widely used as a mouth freshener and in toothpaste. It contains many minerals, and vitamins like vitamin C, vitamin B3, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, fiber, manganese etc.
Apart from these there are various medicinal and health benefits which can be summarized as under
Iron which is the chief constituent of hemoglobin is found in fennel. It helps to stimulate production of hemoglobin and other components of blood.

It is a common practice in India to chew fennel seeds after meals, as it helps in digestion and keeps bad breath away. It also stimulates secretion of digestive and gastric juices reduce inflammation of stomach and intestine and helps in proper absorption of nutrients from the food. It is a great appetizer and has anti-acid properties too.
