MIDI controller is used in two senses
A slider assigned to close and open a low pass filter on a powerful synthesizer may be assigned to controller 18. Just like changes in the position of the slider are brought and transmitted along with “18” so that they are distinguished from changes in the value of other controllers device.
The human interface component of a traditional gadget redesigned as a MIDI control device. The most common type of toll or device in this class is the guitar controller. Such a gadget provides a musical change of tune pitch bend and modulation wheels. Percussion controllers like the Roland Octapad fall into this class, as do a variety of midi wind controllers and controllers such as the SynthAxe.
