A venti caramel frappuccino with whipped cream sure tastes good but it’s not exactly low calorie. In fact, this drink has 490 calories and sixteen grams of fat. Yet, there are many delicious, low calorie options at Starbucks. Here are some of my favorite, healthier choices at Starbucks.
My personal favorite is the tall nonfat iced caramel machiatto. The caramel drizzle satisfies my sweet tooth, and it has 140 calories and one gram of fat. Another favorite of some of my friends is the Tazo Iced Chai Latte. It has 150 calories for a tall.
Want to go even skinnier? Try a tall cappuccino with nonfat milk. It has only 60 calories. Or cool off with an iced caffe latte. It has 70 calories. Both of these drinks have zero grams of fat. Starbucks also has skinny versions of some of their drinks. These drinks contain sugar free syrups and nonfat milk. One delicious option is the iced skinny flavored latte with 60 calories and nine carbs. Another skinny option is the skinny cinnamon dolce latte. It has 90 calories and zero grams of fat.
If you don’t have a sweet tooth, the brewed coffee comes in at five calories and the Tazo brewed teas have zero calories. This is, of course, if you don’t add any real sugar or milk. Green tea lovers can get a Tazo China Green Tips brewed tea with zero calories, unsweetened, or a Tazo shaken iced green tea with 60 calories. This tea has “mint, lemongrass and lemon verbena” and is “lightly sweetened and shaken with ice.”
One general tip for lowering the calories is to get nonfat milk. Also, hold the whip and ask for the tall size. Some of the hot drinks can even be ordered in a short, eight ounce size. This will lower the calories for any drink.
As for food, the Chicken on Flatbread with Hummus Artisan Snack Plate is a good healthy option. This snack plate features “hummus, grape tomatoes, carrot and cucumber sticks with grilled white chicken strips on wheat flatbread.” It has 250 calories, 17 grams of protein and 180 percent of vitamin A. The only drawback is the sodium level; it has 520 mg. Finally, the Starbucks perfect oatmeal has 140 calories, five grams of protein and 50 percent of your daily value of iron.
See, it’s possible to eat healthy and delicious food.
