The omega 3 fatty acids in the fish oil are fuels for our body. These are essential fatty acids. Essential means our bodies need them but cannot produce them. That is why we have to get them from our diets.

The best sources include types of oily fish like salmon, tuna, herring, sardines and anchovies.

I learned that almost everybody was deficient in omega 3 fatty acids. People who like natural healing methods can take fish oil in order to extend medication prescribed by the doctor.

The main benefits of fish oil are:

  • Omega 3 fish oil may lower your blood pressure.

  • Researchers found that people were less likely to develop heart disease if they ate a lot of fish. Fish oil can reduce blood fats and so the chances of heart disease. Omega 3 fatty acids also can prevent heart rhythm abnormalities by making the heart stronger.

  • Omega 3 fish oil can make platelets in the blood less sticky. So they wil be prevented from clumping together, which can trigger heart attacks if they do as blood flow can stop.

  • It can maintain optimum cholesterol level.

  • It may helps prevent cancer.

  • The human brain is comprised of 60% fats, and approximately half of that fat is omega 3. This means our brain is powered by fats, if we don’t have enough, it won’t be able to run properly. Fish oil helps us concentrate. Adequate level of omega 3 intake is associated with less attention deficit and higher IQ’s. It keeps the brain sharp, it improves brain development from conception through old age.

  • Omega 3 fish oil is useful for pregnant mothers, it helps the fetus’s brain to develop properly. Later, in the nursing phase mothers have to eat enough omega 3 foods as well. The omega 3 will be passed along to the child when the baby is breastfed.

  • Anti-inflammatory properties belong to the known fish oil benefits. It can help alleviate the pains coming from rheumatic inflammation.

  • As inflammation is one of the primary problems of acne, omega 3’s help combat them also.

  • Omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil have been shown to help ease menstrual cramps.

The omega 3′s in the fish oil are indisputably one of the most important substances for good health and well-being. Our body requires a tremendous amount of omega 3 fatty acids to function properly. In fact we should eat plenty of fatty fish to get the necessary amount of fish oil.

Even when I am not ill, my memory and focus can improve with consistent use of fish oil supplements. Now I buy a few fillets of salmon or tuna every week and I also regularly take fish oil supplements. I agree that buying and preparing fresh fish many times a week is too difficult and expensive. Taking fish oil supplements is more comfortable.
