Know Before You Book Flights to Bali

Bali is an Indonesian island, Denpasar being its capital, is located in the western most end of the Lesser Sunda Island, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. Hindu minority, about 93.2% of Bali’s population adhered to Balinese Hinduism, while remainder follow Islam. It is the target tourist destination in the country and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music. This explains the operation of umpteenth number of flights to Bali.

Highest Mountain Agung, known as the ‘mother mountain’, which is an active volcano attracts people to take flights to Bali . Volcanic nature has contributed to its exceptional fertility and its tall mountain ranges provide the high rainfall that supports agricultural sector. The island is surrounded by coral reefs. Beaches in south have white sand while in north and west have black sand. The seaside temple of Tanah Lot is used for significant tourism. These attract many Bali flights . In Bali, 280 species of birds are present. Critically endangered Bali Starling is endemic. Other species include Barn Swallow, Black-naped Oriole, Crested Serpent-eagle, Milky Stork, Pacific Swallow, Sacred Kingfisher, Sea Eagle, Woodswallow, White Heron, Great Egret, etc. Squirrels are common here.

The most famous place to encounter bat is Goa Lawah (temple of bats), where they are worshipped by locals. Two species of monkey are found viz. Crab-eating Macaque, locally known as ‘kera’ and Silver Leaf Monkey, known locally as ‘lutung’. Snakes like King Cobra and Reticulated Pythons is observed there. Large trees like banyan, jackfruit, coconut, bamboo, acacia trees are also found there. Some flowers which are present there are hibiscus, frangipani, bougainvillea, oleander, jasmine, lotus, roses, orchids, etc. These attract many Bali flights.

Tourism industry overwhelmingly focused in south. Main tourist locations are town of Kuta (with its beach), outer suburbs of Legian and Seminyak, Sanur, Jimbaran and Oberoi. The Ngurah Rai International Airport is located near Jimbaran. Lt. Col. Wisnu Airfield is located in north-west Bali. Famous Balinese dances include pendet, legong, baris, topeng, barong, gong keybar and kecak (the monkey dance). Diverse and sophisticated art forms such as painting, sculpture, wood carving, handcrafts and performing arts. Balinese percussion orchestra music is known as gamelan. Cheap flights to Bali are offered by domestic as well as international flights.
