Bed bugs are one of the most difficult to eradicate as they have a very hard shell which will defy some of the strongest insecticides, but then, who wants to use them around the house. Yet, the most effective way to get rid of these horrible pests is also the simplest and safest.
Once bed bugs have been detected, all bed linens must be placed in the washing machine. Setting the water at its highest temperature add the normal amount of washing detergent and half a bottle of white vinegar( or the whole bottle if you wish) This simple household ingredient softens the shell thus allowing the hot water and detergent to kill the bugs. Apparently there are properties in vinegar which will soften even the hard shell of a cockroach.
Now it is the actual bed that needs to be treated. Dismantle the bed and take it out in the sunshine. In the meantime you will have prepared the same solution used in the washing machine. Douse every metal part of bed and allow drying in the sun. With a timber bed head, splash the solution on and wipe off immediately before the water soaks into the wood. Don’t worry the bugs have been covered with the solution and dying on the ground. If the infestation is bad, repeat the operation.
