Jamie’s Lasagna Recipe

Its not that classic italian lasagna, but still very-very delicious. In this recipe i replaced the bechamel sauce with sour cream. I put 2 layers of lasagna sheets and 3 layers of meat sauce. It always tastes so good.

About 8-10 portions.

Ingredients you’ll need for ground beef sauce:

2 tablespoons of olive oil
100 g of smoked bacon
2 chopped onions
2 cloves of chopped garlic
2 chopped carrot
2 stalks of chopped celery
1 tablespoon of dried oregano
500 g of ground beef
50 g of concentrated tomato paste
800 g of crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon of sugar
4 dl of water
salt
black pepper
handful of fresh basil

Ingredients you’ll need for filling:

250 g of lasagna sheets
500 g of sour cream
150 g of grated parmesan cheese
1-2 tomatoes

First make the sauce.
Mince the bacon. Heat the oil and add the bacon. Cook for some minutes until the bacon is golden. Add chopped onion, garlic, carrot and celery and cook for about 7-8 minutes, stirring from time to time until the vegetables start to soften. Add oregano and ground beef and simmer for couple of minutes (no need to brown). Add tomato paste, sugar, crushed tomatoes and water, spice with salt and pepper. Simmer until boiling, then lower the heat. Cover the pot and stew for about 45-60 minutes, stirring from time to time.

Now pour 1/3 of the meat sauce to the bottom of the baking dish. Cover with lasagna sheets. Add 1/2 of the sour cream, spice with salt and pepper and sprinkle with 1/3 of the grated cheese. Repeat the layers. For last layer, pour the meat sauce, grated cheese and on top lay there the sliced tomatoes.

Cover the dish with folio and cook in oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes. Then remove the folio and cook for about 25-30 minutes more until the sheets are soft (check with a knife).

Remove from oven. Before serving, let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes.
