Cedar Plank Salmon

There are many ways to prepare fish and other seafood. Salmon i no different. Cedar Plank Salmon is a dish like no other.  The best part about it is that it is fairly easy to make.  Another thing about it is that the time to prepare it is relatively short.  One of the first things to do oddly enough is to g to your local Home Depot of another store that sells cedar shingles.  Most stores will cut it for you so there should not be a need to be concerned. Have them cut it into a size of about 6-8 inches long (depending on the size of the salmon) and ensure the width is about 3-5 inches.

Once you have the cedar boards take a large bowl and fill it with water.  You can also use your sink if necessary. Ensure that the board are soaked in the water for at least 30 to an hour.  The reason for this is so the wood won’t catch fire when it is on the grill. The following is also what you will need:

1. Salmon Fillets

2. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

3. Season Salt

4. Lemon Slices (if desired)

Take the cedar board and coat the top of it with th extra virgin olive oil.  This helps to give it a very slight fry effect.

Use about 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and coat the top portion of the salmon.

The next thing you will do is to sprinkle a dash of season salt to th salmon.

Place the salmon fillet on the cedar board and plac it on the grill.  You can either close the hood of the grill or use a deep aluminum pan to cover the salmon.  This is important because as the salmon is cooked the smoke flavor will develop around the salmon.  Let it cook in the grill for 10-15 minutes.

When the salmon is cook it should be firm to touch and the translucent color should not be present.

This is a great dish that can be served with a great slice of lemon on top and rice on the side.  If yu wish to add a dipping sauce to it it wll be even better.  A honey-mustardsauce is great for this.  Mix you own sauce and ensure the mix is about 75% honey and 25% mustard.  ENJOY!
