While the catching position still is not very deep, in 2010, Posey and Santana brought a little new life to it. I think the position is now 10 deep. Despite his age, Posada getting most of his abs at DH could still provide descent production.  If you want real quality numbers from your catcher position, you are going to have to jump early. Wieters is now an interesting player to watch in drafts, he was so highly touted a couple years ago and has just struggled with the pressure. I think the talent is there and he is still just 24 years old, if fans just lower their expectations a bit, he could be a strong breakout candidate. Carlos Santana is the guy that I expect to get over-drafted this year. I have seen articles comparing him to Posey and that just is not accurate. Santana has a lot of power and could lead all catchers in homeruns in the next few years but he is not a 300 hitter and I don’t look for him to ever develop into one.
