Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

We’ve seen action films and dramas and chick flicks, but has anyone seen a Geek Flick before? This is (in my own honest opinion) the best example of a Geek Flick.

Starring Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, a total loser who plays bass in Sex Bob Omb (his band) and sleeps in the same bed with his gay friend.

Oh and I should mention that they live in a basement, and he barely owns anything.

No job, no ambition and no charisma whatsoever.

A lead character who is downright boring and yet Michael Cera makes it work. He is in a geeky way charming.

He meets this girl, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), who he ends up dating after (or was it while?) dating Knives Chau (his barely legal chinese canadian girl friend)

Unbeknownst to Scott, (hey! does anyone else use unbeknownst in a sentence?) Ramona has 7 deadly exes who have banded together to destroy him.

Again, I don’t want to ruin anyone’s day by posting everything about this movie… so i’ll skip some details.

Let’s just say this movie has a lot of eye candy (for girls) like Chris Evans who plays Lucas Lee (professional skateboarder and actor) who has a whole busload of stuntmen/ extras who move and fight like him. Chris Evans is the guy who played the human torch in the Fantastic Four movie.

There’s also Brandon Routh (who played Superman), as Todd Ingram, the vegan bassist from Clash at the Demon head (which happens to be the band of Scott’s ex-girlfriend, Envy) (whew, I’m getting confused)!

It’s a fantastic movie which incorporates a lot of things like the use of digital effects to emphasize the fight scenes. You’ll just have to see for yourself how hilarious the fight scenes are and how people end up as a pile of coins after Scott’s battled them.

Watching this movie is like watching a computer game, a full on computer game’s visual screen shots, in between movie, whatever.

This movie is also loosely based on the comic book with the same title.

There’s a dull moment at the start though so try to get past it until the time they start playing onstage and the first battle begins.

Excellent movie! A movie to totally Geek out on!
