Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death.
They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened on January 8th in History?

1675- 1st American commercial corporation was chartered (NY Fishing Co)

1790- US President George Washington delivers 1st “State of the Union” address

1835- The United States national debt is 0 for the first and only time.

1867 – African American men granted the right to vote in Washington, D.C.

1954- Elvis Presley pays $4 to a Memphis studio & records his 1st two songs, “Casual Love” & “I’ll Never Stand in Your Way”

1564-1642 –Galileo Galilei Italian physicist/astronomer, dies at 77 in Italy, made improvements to the telescope, Galileo is “the father of Observational astronomy”, “the father of modern Physics”, “the father of science”, and “the father of modern science”

1825-1896-William Rainey Marshall was the 5th Governor of Minnesota; William Rainey Marshall was a member of the Republican Party and was an officer in the 7thMinnesota volunteer infantry regiment during the American Civil War.

1884-1916 –Rembrandt Bugatti was an Italian sculptor, Rembrandt was known for his bronze sculptures of wildlife, he killed himself because during World War I Antwerp Zoo (where Rembrandt got most of his subjects) were forced to kill off most of their animals, Rembrandt art pieces go for very high dollars.

1880-1938-Johnny Gruelle was the Creator of Raggedy Ann and Andy, Johnny Gruelle was also a very accomplished artist, children’s book author

1869-1942 –Joseph Franklin Rutherford was the second President of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society for the Jehovah Witnesses, Joseph Franklin Rutherford made many doctrinal changes that shaped the beliefs of the Jehovah Witnesses, he introduced the name Jehovah Witnesses in 1935 and the term “Kingdom Hall” for the Jehovah Witnesses house of worship, he distributed 400 million books and booklets.

1878-1944-William Kissam VanderbiltII was a member of the Vanderbilt family, motor racing enthusiast, raised in Vanderbilt mansions, born into the good life and sailed on yachts built by his father, William Kissam Vanderbilt

1925-1994 –Harvey Haddix was the pitcher who pitched the 12 perfect inning game, lost his perfect game in the 13thinning; Harvey Haddix also won two World Series and three Gold Gloves in his MLB career.

1998 –Walter Diemer was the inventor of bubble gum in 1928, “Dubble Bubble”; this bubble gum became an inexpensive treat during the Great Depression

1932-2002 –Dave Thomas was an American fast food entrepreneur and founder of Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, known today as Wendy’s, Dave Thomas appeared in more than 800 Wendy’s commercials, he worked with Colonel Sanders to make KFC more productive and part-owned many KFC’s himself, sold back his shares for 1.5 million dollars

1908-2007-Jane Bolin was the first African American female judge, was the first African American to graduate from Yale Law School and the first African American to join the New York City Bar Association
