The New York Jets squeaked by the Indianapolis Colts tonight with a last second 32 YD field goal, New York Jets 17-Indianapolis Colts 16. The New York Jets ran the perfect game plan in the second half against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. The Jets kept the ball on the ground and took the ball out of the hands of Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning gave the Indianapolis Colts a chance to win, but he left too much time on the clock for Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets.
LaDainian Tomlinson (also known as LT) was the offensive star for the New York Jets. LaDainain Thomlinson 16 times for 82 YD’s and 2 TD’s. Shonn Green had 19 carries for 70 YD’s. Not only was the ground game working for the New York Jets, it took time off the clock and kept the ball out of the hands of Peyton Manning. This was a huge win for the New York Jets who have to regroup and play a hot Tom Brady and the New England Patriots next week.
Mark Sanchez looked like a second year quarterback in tonight’s game. He was horrible in the first half, giving up an interception in the red zone near the end of the half. On the other hand, Sanchez led the New York Jets on their last drive and threw a great pass to Braylon Edwards to set up the winning 32 YD field goal. Mark Sanchez is going to have to be at his best next week if he expects to move the New York Jets past Tom Brady and the New England Patriots next week. If not, the New England Patriots will blow out the New York Jets in their quest for another Super Bowl Championship.
Darrelle Revis was the defensive star for the New York Jets tonight. The box score will only show one tackle for the star CB, but that doesn’t tell the real story. Darrelle Revis held the Indianapolis Colt star receiver Reggie Wayne to just one catch for one yard. Revis covered Reggie Wayne like a fresh coat of paint and took away one of Peyton Manning’s most important options. Indianapolis Colt WR receiver Pierre Garcon had a decent game as Peyton Manning’s only true option with 5 catches for 112 YD’s and 1 TD.
When things mattered at the end of tonight’s game, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts did not have the ball. Mark Sanchez took great field position ( Via a 47 YD kick-off return by Antonio Cromartie) and drove the New York Jets into field goal range in 50 seconds. Nick Folk kicked the game winning field goal for the New York Jets as the clock wound down to zero. Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts are once again knocked out of the playoffs and will sit at home and watch the action. The New York Jets will go on and try to beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The odds are against them, but the New York Jets proved tonight that they were the better team.
