An Overview On Whey Protein Isolates

Okay so there’s been much of talk these days from companies with claims stating the originality of their products. Now this is where whey protein isolates (WPIs) fall into place, it is in fact a high valued source of protein, but here’s are some things you may not know about it.

So here’s the scope:

Whey protein isolates is more expensive than just the regular concentrate form of it (which concentrate protein is used in most protein powders). It costs more simply because it has more protein with less fat and lactose per serving than concentrate, thus giving it a higher biological value. Concentrate protein contains about 75-80% of pure protein as opposed to WPI which has over 90% and even 98%.

But here’s the downside. Since whey protein isolates have a higher protein value and it is more expensive does not actually make it a better usage for muscle gains. It is said by many bodybuilders that using supplements with majority whey protein isolates than concentrate does not really make much of a difference to their muscle building results, therefore implying that WPI is not all that different from regular whey protein concentrate.

Despite this it is said by the Department of Food Science and Technology in the University Of Ohio State that, whey protein isolates helps the immune system to work at a more effective rate and can provide a safe guard against prostate cancer.

Now to overall justify if whey protein isolates are the best source of protein to use, take note of this. Whey protein isolates is great to use if you are lactose intolerant, and for some immune boosting, and maybe some insurance of a healthy prostate.

But you will find that majority of protein powders mainly use concentrate protein mixed with some WPI, thus not making much of a difference to the actually benefits of using just whey protein isolates when it comes to muscle building. This thus virtually confirms that WPI is really just more expensive and just sounds good to use.-Of course, this is just my opinion and of various bodybuilders or known muscle building experts.
