How to Make Picadillo for Parties and Dinners

Ingredients and items needed:

2 pounds of ground beef

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 chopped onion

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

½ a teaspoon of oregano

½ a teaspoon of cumin

1 can of diced tomatoes with jalapenos

½ a teaspoon of allspice

1 small jar of pimientos (chopped)

½ a cup of raisins

½ a cup of sliced almonds

A pinch of salt

A pinch of pepper

2 Skillets

This picadillo is great to serve at parties as a dip or at a dinner as an appetizer served with chips or nachos, it takes ten minute to prepare and about half an hour to cook. The following recipe makes for about fifteen servings

First thing to do is to chop the pimientos (if not already bought) and the onion and mince the garlic

In a large skillet brown the meat over medium heat and add a pinch of salt and pepper

Next add the allspice, onion, garlic, oregano and cumin and cook until the onion is tender and the meat is no longer pink in color

At this point add the tomatoes, pimientos and raisins and stir occasionally bringing to a boil

Then reduce the heat to low, cover the pan and simmer for twenty minutes

In the meantime toast the sliced almonds in a small skillet over medium heat and stir them in right before serving
