Baking Cookies From Cake Mix

Cookies are wonderful sweet treats that everyone from your toddler to Grandma and Grandma enjoys and cookies also make wonderful food gifts for the holidays or birthdays or just about anytime. 

What is your favorite cookie?  Spice, ginger, cardamom, raisin, date, cranberry or fig; just plain vanilla, butterscotch, chocolate or chocolate chip, shortbreads, fruit cookies, cookies with nuts; whatever your favorite is, using a cake mix as your base makes your idea of a great cookie variety at its best.  Whatever your imagination conceives a cookie could be can be made starting with a cake mix from a box.  How easy is that?  

There is nothing difficult about making them and baking cookies from cake mix is the easiest way of all.  It is also the quickest and easiest way to make a variety of cookies in a very short time for that “Food Sale,” “Cookie Exchange,” youth group, senior center or whenever you need to feed a crowd and need a treat everyone will enjoy.  

Whether it is just to appease your sweet tooth or to provide a sweet treat for a crowd, cookies usually fill the bill

and is a treat just about everyone enjoys.  Here is a quick and easy way to whip up a batch of yummy cookies…


Preheat oven 350 degrees

Combine in mixing bowl and mix well

1 box cake mix (dry)

1 stick butter or margarine softened

2 large eggs (or three medium)

2/3 cup chips, raisins, or nuts (optional)

Mix until thoroughly blended.  Dough will be stiff.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet leaving

about an inch between each cookie.  Bake 8 to 10 min.

Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly to set. 

Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.  Enjoy.

Makes approximately 2 dozen cookies
