Why Are You Trying to Cure a Hangover When You Should be Preventing It?

Drinking alcohol can be a very pleasing and sociable experience, but there are times when people drink too much and then wake up the next morning with a terrible hangover. Over the years there have been many possible cures suggested for a hangover and there seems to be a different idea of a cure for every town you visit.

So, do these many different cures for a hangover actually work? You here many stories about people drinking tomato juice with raw eggs and Worcester sauce or taking Alka-Seltzer and many others to ease the symptoms. I tried many of the so called cures when I was younger but none of them seem to work for me which was very frustrating at times. One of the worst things about having a hangover is when you have to go to work whilst feeling terrible and is not recommended for an efficient days work.

Most people who suffer from a hangover tend to concentrate on taking something that perhaps their grandfather recommended as a cure. Instead of trying to cure it why not prevent it from happening in the first place. There are three ways for me of preventing a hangover that work for me every time. The first two are best done together and the first part is to drink as much water as you can when returning home. This may seem difficult at first but once you have tried it you will probably continue to do so. I would drink at least three to four large glasses of water before retiring.

The second part is, if you don’t need to get up early in the morning have a lay in and get plenty of sleep. If you can do this and also drink lots of water the night before you will be amazed at the difference it will make. There is something else that I often have in the morning after an evening with friends and some wine, and that is a mug of tomato soup. It certainly livens up your body and your taste buds will recover from the previous night. If possible don’t drink in excess if you are at work the next morning, for many people even just having two or three glasses of wine can leave you feeling very lethargic the next day.

The third part of preventing a hangover is a very obvious one, don’t drink too much alcohol. There is great temptation to drink nowadays especially when socialising and the preferred drink seems to be wine which is definitely becoming more popular by the year. So, if you happen to drink too much one evening don’t forget drink as many glasses of water as you can and get plenty of sleep. Also, if you have been drinking for example, wine at a party why not towards the end of the evening start drinking water and when returning home have some more.

I hope I haven’t given you the impression that I have a hangover most mornings; the above are some of the things I have learnt over the many years of social drinking. The above suggestions do work and are much easier to do than trying to get rid of a hangover. Thank you for reading my article and the above paragraphs were interesting and helpful.
