Houston’s Discovery Green ushers in 2011 with Gloworama

Looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve?  Bring the family and come out and celebrate at the city’s official celebration “Gloworama” at Discovery Green. 

Gloworama, New Year’s Eve at Discovery Green is a community celebration that will feature an illuminated art car parade and one huge light show.  The event will take place on December 31st, at 7pm – 12:15am around Discovery Green and the George R. Brown Center.

As the sun goes down the streets light up as a parade of illuminated art cars and scooters fill the night with fun and delight as the parade rolls down Avenida de Americas at 9:30pm.  The audience will be in awe as the brightly lit art on wheels goes by designed by some of Houston’s finest artists.

As the evening draws to a close, the last 30 minutes of 2010 are promised to be some of the year’s finest for Gloworama attendees. At 11:50 p.m. a state-of-the-art 3D light show and fireworks display on the George R. Brown Convention Center, will take audiences straight into 2011 to close out 2010 and ring-in the New Year.

Hyatt Regency Houston, Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration

The Hyatt Regency in Houston will be throwing their annual New Year’s Eve celebration, covering four floors and featuring two live bands, a D.J., lots of  party favors and of course their popular 50,000-balloon drop at midnight.  Houston’s largest New year’s Eve Celebration will be taking place at the all-new Hyatt Regency Houston located in downtown on December 31st,  from 7 pm – 1 am.

General admission tickets are still on sale and can be purchased at the hotel’s Front Desk for $89. Each ticket will include four drink coupons, party favors, Latin bets from Yelba, music from the Fab 5 and DJ 33 1/3 spinning party hits the lobby. 

The countdown to midnight will once again culminate with Hyatt’s famous 50,000 balloon cascade from the top of the hotel’s atrium lobby.

Sharkey’s New Year’s Eve Bash at The Aquarium, Houston

Kids want to celebrate the New Year too, bring them out to The Aquarium and let them celebrate the New Year with their favorite man-eating finned friend, at Sharky’s New Year’s Bash.

It’s will take place in the afternoon from 2-5pm, a New Year’s Eve party with a balloon drop, games, contests and prizes. A kid-friendly DJ will play holiday music and pop favorites to keep everyone on the dance floor between trips to the buffet.
