Calgary eyelid surgery
Calgary eye-lid surgery is a type of cosmetic facial surgery. These type of surgery can be mainly used to provide a new look. During this surgery, an extra muscle, fat and muscle is removed from upper and lower eyelids. This surgery can repair a drooping upper eyelid and a ‘puffy’ lower eyelid. Usually these types of drooping and puffy eye lids make us look older or tired and may affect our visual fields. So this Calgary eye-lid surgery can be used to overcome this issue. While going for a surgery, we should keep one thing in our mind, that this operation will not repair the wrinkles on the sides of the eye, skin pigmentation around the eyes and fallen eyebrow. This eyelid surgery can be combined with face shift, brow shift and forehead shift. This operation usually takes two to three hours. Usually the surgeon will fix upper eyelids in both eyes and then the lower eyelids.
After surgery both eyes have bandages. And we may feel pain in the areas of the surgery after the effect of anesthetics has gone. This can be overcome by using analgesics. We have to take rest and put ice on both eyes to reduce swelling and bleeding. The healing process is gradual and may take up to 6 months. But from the third day after the operation onwards we can read, watch television etc and within ten to fifteen days they can lead a normal life that means, they can go for their work and all. High blood pressure, thyroid problems etc may increase the risk of this surgery.
Blepharoplasy is same as that of eyelid surgery. This is actually considered as the surgical modification of the eyelid. Here, excess tissue like skin and fat are removed or repositioned, and surrounding muscles and tendons may be reinforced. It can be considered as a functional as well as cosmetic surgery. This is often done as an elective surgery for cosmetic reasons. Lower eyelid blepharoblasty is mainly done for cosmetic reasons, to improve puffy lower eyelid ‘bags” and reduce the wrinkling. Asian blepharoblasty or double eyelid surgery is a special type of blepharoblasty that create a crease in the upper eyelid. This type of surgery is sometimes needed for functional reasons. When an advanced amount of upper eyelid skin is present, the skin may protrude over the eye lashes and causes a loss of peripheral vision. The recovery process after this surgery may take a few weeks. Non-surgical alternatives have shown improvement with patients exhibiting early indications of facial ageing. Lasers, chemical peels, botulinum toxin and dermal fillers are also used in some degree to treat periorbital tissue. Morbihan’s disease can be treated using co2 blepharoblasty. In this type of blepharoblasty, this co2 lasers prevent stray energy from causing injury to eyes.
