The Mothers-in-Law: I’d Tell You I Love You, But We’re Not Speaking is so funny. I really was tickled by this outing of the program This series is about two bickering families who have been united because their children get married. Now they are always in one another’s lives.
In this episode, the newlyweds, Jerry and Suzie, have a huge fight and go home to their parents. Naturally, the moms are ecstatic, though the dads realize that it’s just a fight.
Then things go crazy and no one is speaking to anyone. There is a super scene where they have a phone tag scene. I love it. It was different and made me chuckle.
Eventually, they all go to therapy and the phone there is in listening to Eve Arden do a bit where she recites the Mother Hubbard nursery rhyme. It might sound a little hokey, but it worked.
Ultimately, the reason for the big fight comes out, and that’s funny, too, as is the response to it.
On the whole, The Mothers-in-Law: I’d Tell You I Love You, But We’re Not Speaking is very entertaining. Jerry Fogel and Deborah Walley give solid performances as the fighting lovers, and all ends well.
