Rahman’s collaboration with Dido, If I Rise, offers a poignant listen and together with The Gleehive Children’s Choir, the soundscape Rahman creates is enthralling! .The combination of Rahman’s music with Dido’s voice is almost ethereal and really does speak to the idea of the power of the human spirit. The children’s choir chiming in at the end gives the track a full circle effect that not only works within this story, but creates an inspiring track on its own.
The film is already nominated for 68th Golden Globe Awards nomination, as a Best Original Score for A. R. Rahman
The soundtrack for 127 HOURS is one of hope and perseverance in the face of a daunting situation. In 127 HOURS, the music is an important element. Both Rahman and the artists selected to complete the soundtrack work well to keep us connected.
“If I Rise” comes in the form of collaboration with Dido, the composer himself doing the vocals alongside the singer. The orchestration here is mesmerizing serene, highlighted by the theme on what sounds again like the continuum fingerboard. The soundtrack rates above his previous film as it is such albums that show the class act that ARR truly is.
But once again, Danny Boyle and A.R. Rahman are going for a far more interior moment of transcendence, one that tells us the often-awful fight for life is more than worth it- especially in this haunting fever dream that take a filmmaker and musician to new heights while pondering their way out of a man’s darkest hours.
The nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards will be unveiled January 25 while the award ceremony will take place on February 27 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
