I really am trying to think of something positive to say about season 9’s Stargate SG-1: The Ties That Bind, but I can’t, except that I adore Michael Shanks and he’s adorable to watch. The problem is that watching Claudia Black as that vulgar tramp, Vala mal Doran is not adorable; no, it’s disgusting. Black is just fine, but her character is horrid and does not belong on this series in this capacity.
This show continues the ridiculous plot of having Daniel and Vala linked together with these bracelets. I don’t like it, and I don’t enjoy the story.
In the hour, the two go all over the place trying to figure out how to get the bracelets off. It’s like a trade show. Worse, in the end, they don’t get an answer. The whole thing was wasted time.
I just wish I could adequately express how much the Vala character ruined this show. It breaks me heart to see the direction this took the show in, especially Daniel, who was so precious and wonderful. It’s tragic, sincerely tragic.
All this hour did was reinforce that Vala is a tramp. There wasn’t one redeeming thing about her in it. I’m glad Amanda Tapping had a baby, but boy, did it kill the show.
