The Game had a huge buzz before he ever released his first album (The Doumentary) in 2005. That album went on to sell 5 million copies but things were not all wonderful between him and 50 Cent and the two had a very public feud. It didn’t matter much because The Game continued to put out great music with or without G-Unit. On this list I chose what I though were Game’s best songs from his three albums only and not any of his mixtape material but I feel this is a good place to start for newcomers.
Hate It or Love It– 50 Cent and Game team up over a fantastic instrumental and deliver one of the best rap singles of 2005.
Westside Story– 50 is only featured on the hook but another great Dre beat and Game rips it.
Dreams– Awesome sample.
Higher– Lace my Air Ones up, put my gun up. I don’t need that, I’m riding with Dre who don’t love us? One of my personal favorites off of the Documentary.
How We Do– Another 50 Cent and Game collaboration that paid off well for both parties. According to 50 this was one of the songs he gave to Game that was actually meant for his own album.
No More Fun and Games– Short track that served as the intro to the Documentary.
Where I’m From– A smooth west coast beat demands that Nate Dogg be on the hook while Game speaks on being from Compton.
My Life– Lil Wayne does a great job on the hook and My Life is a song that deals with more serious topics.
Dope Boys– Dope Boys is a song that is full of energy from start to finish.
Bulletproof Diaries– Bulletproof features Raekwon.
Letter to the King– Game shows his depth as an artist on Letter to the King plus it’s a very smooth beat.
Let Us Live– Sounds like If I Ruled the World by Nas which Game acknowledges during the song but damn this is a great song off of LAX.
Angel– Ok as I noted below I think Ol’ English might be his best song but this one is neck and neck with it. Common makes a guest appearance.
It’s Okay (One Blood)- Wow this song goes hard. The drums hit with a force and Game tears it up.
Scream On Em– Cool track from Swizz Beats.
Doctor’s Advocate– Great beat and hook although he does sound whiney about Dre on here.
Ol’ English– This might be The Game’s best song he’s put out, definitely top 3.
CaliforniaVacation– Crazy west coast beat on here and verses from Snoop and Xzibit.
