Modern businesses must rely on modern ways to reach potential customers and clients.  While traditional methods like the Yellow Pages and newspaper advertising can certainly be effective in attracting an older generation of customers, most people under the age of 40 turn to the Internet in order to locate a business.

So how do you know which type of website is best for your business?  The answer depends on the type of business as well as the type of customer you are trying to attract.  A basic one-page website is suitable for most businesses, but if you are in a highly visual field, such as design, photography, art, or fashion, then you may want to consider something more visually impressive.  

Building a website is an important step to establishing an online presence, but it is only the first step.  A website is only effective if people can find it.  The biggest misconception business owners have about websites is the belief that their website will magically pop up on all of the major search engines.  Your website may show up when someone searches for it, but it could easily be lost in hundreds of search results.  In order for a website to be seen, it must have SEO, or “search engine optimization”.  This is often the difference between a site that costs $5.00 a month and one that costs $50.00 a month.  When building a business website, always make sure that you sign up for a package that ensures that your site will be seen on all of the popular search engines.
