Mercury And Its Qualities

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the eighth largest. This planet is even smaller in diameter than Ganymede and Titan, and is rarely seen due to the brightness of the sun. In Romanian mythology, Mercury is the god of trade, equivalent of Hermes in Greek mythology.

Mercury has been “visited” by a single spacecraft, Mariner 10. It flew around the planet three times between 1974 and 1975. However only 45% of its surface was mapped (and, unfortunately, is too close to the Sun to be made reliable measurements).

Surface temperature variation is the largest planet in the entire solar system, temperatures reaching values between 90 K and 700 K.

Planet’s interior is dominated by an iron core with a range of 1800-1900 km. Esterioara blanket is made, as in the case of Earth, the rock of 500-600 km thick.

This little world is covered by craters and looks like our moon. The atmosphere is very rarefied, almost nonexistent, and is composed of dust from the surface by high solar wind.
