Stargate SG-1: Maternal Instinct is definitely an excellent show to watch, even though it’s not one I tend to watch all that often. I have to emphasize that it’s one of those that is of quality, but just focuses on things I’m not that crazy about.
For one thing, this is when we meet Oma DeSala for the first time, and I am not an Oma fan. I don’t like her, can’t stand her, and wish she’d never been written, so I’m not interested in her incarnation in this hour.
That said, there are some really nice reasons to turn in. For one thing, watching Michael Shanks with the baby is so adorable. He spent a lot of time with the infant before filming so the baby would feel comfortable with him, which I thought was just fantastic.
I also like watching Jack being so frustrated by the monk. He just doesn’t deal well with this philosophical stuff. I loved it. The bit at the end with the shoes is hysterical. That moment I could watch a lot.
This is a good show, one worth watching, especially for the growth that Daniel experiences. It’s just I’m not fond of the Abydonian shows and, as I said, I don’t like Oma.
