Stargate SG-1: In the Line of Duty isn’t all that high on my list of favorites, mainly because it is the beginning of the Jolinar story that remains with the show forever. Jolinar is a mystery to viewers and the real truth about her isn’t developed and learned until subsequent episodes of this science fiction series.
However, what we do know is that in this show Samantha Carter becomes the unwilling host to Jolinar, who most believe is a Goa’uld.
This is a team episode, which is always a plus in that all of the actors get moments to standout and shine, even though the emphasis is on Amanda Tapping’s portrayal of Sam. Odds are she enjoyed it since she was able to do a bit of Evil Sam actingt.
Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson was able to play angst as a result of Jolinar claiming to know where Sha’re, his wife, is. This leads to a nice scene with Jack and Daniel, along with Hammond, that I’ve always enjoyed.
One of the most enjoyable scenes is at the end and involves Jack, Daniel, and Cassandra, the alien child adopted by Janet Fraiser. Not only does Daniel bring Sam flowers, but the conversation with Cassandra is very nice.
